Tong Sui had no complaints; in fact, he was pleasantly surprised by the dishes served at the table. What a coincidence! They were all his favorite foods. In the small house where they all lived together and cooked their meals, Tong Sui felt embarrassed to make too many requests, so he ate whatever everyone else had. However, today, the dishes coincidentally matched his taste perfectly.
His excitement was even more apparent than the black moods of the others at the table, and his eyes sparkled brighter than usual. Sitting across from him, Jiang Ciyu chuckled lightly. “Well? Are you satisfied?”
Jiang Ciyu had a good memory; he could remember almost everything he had seen. He had briefly scanned the information Tong Sui filled out for the production team, and he had mostly remembered it.
Realizing Jiang Ciyu was talking to him, Tong Sui quickly nodded. “I’m super satisfied! They’re all my favorites! What a coincidence!”
“That’s great, then eat a bit more if you like,” Jiang Ciyu said.
Upon hearing this, the expressions of the others darkened to various degrees. Jiang Ciyu’s previous demeanor had been somewhat restrained, but today, his actions were quite evident; he had feelings for Tong Sui.
Everyone at the table, apart from Tong Sui, who was happily enjoying his meal, seemed to have their own hidden agendas.
“Mr. Jiang, why do you have so much time today?” Zhou Siyuan asked casually. “Have you finished dealing with company matters?”
“Thank you for your concern; I don’t have any urgent schedules for the past week,” Jiang Ciyu replied. “Doctor Zhou, you have a lecture to give besides recording the program, right?”
“Indeed, I do. Mr. Jiang seems to be quite well informed,” Zhou Siyuan remarked.
Jiang Ciyu not only knew Tong Sui’s tastes but had also conveniently checked his schedule. If he could help it, he wouldn’t want to deal with such a person, whose experiences and ways of handling situations were too difficult to gauge. Jiang Ciyu’s face didn’t reveal too many emotions, making it even harder to know what he was thinking.
Such a person was hard to infuriate, and one could never guess what was on their mind.
Chi Xingyu snorted coldly.
Two old foxes, both full of cunning, and only Tong Sui would let his guard down.
Chi Xingyu glanced at Tong Sui, who seemed completely unguarded. He figured Tong Sui would help count the money even if he were sold out.
After dinner, it was already quite late, and they needed to return to the small house. Tong Sui contentedly patted his belly. His appetite was excellent, eating even more than usual, waddling like a little penguin as he walked.
When Tong Sui exited the restaurant with Zhou Siyuan, he tried to sit in the passenger seat. However, as soon as he opened the door, he was pushed back by Zhong Yi, who took his hand and led him to his own car. “Sit with me.”
“Wait a moment,” Tong Sui said, still in a daze.
“You promised last time. I’m picking up Chi Xingyu, so you’ll sit in my car next time,” Zhong Yi said. “You haven’t forgotten, have you?”
Tong Sui felt a pang of guilt, as he indeed seemed to have said something like that.
His expressions were hard to hide, and even Zhong Yi noticed his nervousness. He let out a snort and grandly opened the car door. “Are you getting in yourself, or should I help you?”
Tong Sui obediently seated himself and fastened his seatbelt.
Zhong Yi’s lips curled into a smirk as he raised an eyebrow triumphantly at the three behind them before confidently hopping into the driver’s seat. The sleek silver sports car proudly circled in front of them before it drove off.
The remaining three stared, speechless.
They almost wanted to curse.
Especially Chi Xingyu; had he known that being picked up by Zhong Yi came with such additional conditions, he would have crawled back to the small house from the airport instead of letting Zhong Yi pick him up.
However, the stranded Chi Xingyu had to get back into Jiang Ciyu’s car.
The two sat in the back seat.
They say that enemies will look intensely at each other upon meeting, and Chi Xingyu felt the same way now.
All he could think about was that immediately after the show ended, he was going to apply for a driver’s license.
Tong Sui, seated in the passenger seat of Zhong Yi’s car, felt the thrilling push of speed as they sped along.
Zhong Yi’s driving skill was rather flashy; he sped down the road, the engine roaring like him, full of showiness.
Tong Sui turned his head to look out at the night scenery.
The lights along the seaside undulated like falling stars. He reached out to crack open the window, and the cool night breeze rushed in, vying for attention.
The heat of the day had completely dissipated, and the night was always cooler.
The wind carried the scent of the coastline and unknown flowers, blending together in a particularly pleasant way.
Feeling sleepy, Tong Sui closed his eyes and dozed off, completely at ease.
He always managed to let his guard down so easily.
Although Zhong Yi had a penchant for speeding, his driving was very stable; he could even steal glances at Tong Sui in the passenger seat.
Tong Sui looked innocent by nature, and with his eyes closed, his lashes appeared long and thick. The dazzling lights outside filtered through the glass, casting a surreal glow on his profile, giving him an ethereal quality.
It felt as if everything was a dream.
Zhong Yi unconsciously tightened his grip on the steering wheel. He had never understood why those who raced with him liked to have beautiful girls in the passenger seat, and he used to squint and suggest he try it.
Racing and beautiful girls had the power to stimulate adrenaline.
Zhong Yi indeed enjoyed that thrilling sensation, but he also had a bit of a family-born obsession with cleanliness regarding matters and feelings.
Now, with Tong Sui sitting beside him, just the two of them in the car, it filled him with an unprecedented thrill.
It was akin to when Tong Sui leaned in to kiss him to accomplish a dare; Zhong Yi’s heart raced.
Even Zhong Yi himself couldn’t fully understand why he felt this way, but one thing he was sure of: he had been attracted to Tong Sui from the very beginning.
Whether it was the first time they met, seeing Tong Sui smile while leaning against the second-floor railing, or now, seeing him tired and resting in his car.
He couldn’t help but slow down, wanting to prolong this rare moment of solitude a little longer.
